Be Prepared With CPR Training In South Florida

South Florida has the highest infant drowning rate in the United States. South Florida receives double the drowning fatalities than any other state in the nation. Even more shocking is the knowledge that the average fatal drowning victim is a child under the age of 14 with the statistic of one in four children being a drowning victim.

Drowning Prevention Measures

There are numerous precautions that can be taken to reduce this devastating reality. The top six precautions include using a protective barrier such as a pool fence, proper safety devices around water such as a life jacket, responsible adult supervision, swimming with a buddy, take swim lessons and learn CPR. Studies show that a child drowns within the first five minutes of entering a pool area. If a child is seen as missing check the pool or water area first. Every second counts. By knowing CPR an infant, child or adult can be successfully resuscitated.

Learn CPR And You Could Save A Life

CPR training is not difficult or complex. It is a matter of understanding the steps and procedures that are used in an emergency situation for those persons in cardiac or respiratory arrest. CPR stands for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. It is a combination of chest compressions and artificial respiration that assist a victim in maintaining oxygenated blood to the brain and heart. This process delays tissue death and extends the window of opportunity for successful resuscitation without brain damage.
